A-Rod BooedAlex Rodriguez got his first dose of the boo birds today, not for his poor performance, but for his use of steroids. The Toronto Blue Jays' fans aren't the meanest by any means, which says the worst is yet to come for A-Rod. A-Rod did respond well by homering in the 4th inning. Manager Joe Girardi said he plans to speak with his slugger privately later today about the whole matter. Yankees fans were a bit kinder to the third baseman. For the most part he got cheers, but ther! e was a fair share of boos mixed in. A-Rod better get used to being booed and belittled because for the rest of his career the fans will let him know what he did was wrong. His own fans will eventually let it go, but until then it could be difficult for Rodriguez. I feel he has handled everything very well so far.
World Baseball Classic Notes

Shockingly it has been four years since we watched Daisuke Matsuzaka lead Japan to the first ever WBC ! Championship. Now the WBC is back, but with a lack if some of ! baseball 's premiere players. Dice-K has returned to the Japanese squad, but he struggled today in his debut. Johan Santana leads the list of names of players that have either been forbidden to partake by their club or have just chosen not to. Team USA is lead by Jake Peavy, Dustin Pedroia, Derek Jeter, and Grady Sizemore. Alex Rodriguez opted to play for the Dominican Republic this year. I like the idea of the WBC, but it is difficult for it to reach its potential because of the conflict with Spring Training. Teams have a lot of money invested in these players and many of them are weary to let their stars play. Teams are extra worried about their pitchers because they do not wish to fatigue their arms. I will tune in for a lot of the games, but it isn't on the top of my must-see list.
In the next month I will begin my MLB division by division preview, so keep checking in for that.
